In order to mitigate the environmental and social impacts of the Project and include these mitigations measures in the Project Design, the Project Company launched an Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) in October 2020.
Stakeholder participation and consultation is thus essential for the success of the Project. The Project Proponents are committed to make sure that all stakeholders and communities concerned by the Project are well informed about its characteristics and impacts.
The World Bank will also review the ESIA outcomes and give clearance to the social and environmental plans proposed by the Project Company. The World Bank will also monitor the implementations of social and environmental measures.

KeNHA with the support of the National Land Commission will oversee the compensation and resettlement of people that lived along the right of way.
At this stage, the Project alignment will remain within the existing KeNHA right of way, hence no additional displacement of people is anticipated.
